The portion with the vent with the dryer into the wall (the transition) should be crafted from a semi-rigid product outlined and labeled by UL2158A. It cannot be made from foil or plastic. Causes with the heating factor to fail can differ but generally incorporate overloading the dryer, which restricts airflow and may cause the factor to overheat
